Oxygen must only be administered in line with the prescription and advice from a qualified medical professional. We encourage you to discuss your device options and device suitability with your prescribing medical practitioner prior to purchase to ensure this device suits your oxygen requirements.
Some devices produce oxygen in a pulse dose which means you receive oxygen when you breathe in. If you purchase a pulse dose device, it will need to be tested by your medical practitioner to make sure the device is appropriate for your therapy and seek advice on the setting to use.
General Notes About Pulse Dose Concentrators
- Pulse dose concentrators are not recommended if you are unable to use a nasal cannula.
- Pulse dose devices are not recommended for sleeping as they may not sense shallow breathing.
- It is important to consult with your healthcare provider to determine the appropriate setting for using the pulse dose model. Keep in mind that the display setting does not necessarily correspond directly to the flow rate, e.g. setting 2 does not equal exactly 2L/min. The user's oxygen levels should be measured using an oximeter while adjusting for various levels of physical activity, ensuring proper therapy settings.
FAQs About Portable Oxygen Concentrators
What is a portable oxygen concentrator?
A portable oxygen concentrator (POC) is a compact, lightweight device that delivers concentrated oxygen while allowing the user to move freely.
Unlike stationary units or oxygen cylinders, portable concentrators run on rechargeable batteries and are designed for walking, travel, and everyday activities outside the home.
Why is my machine loud when I turn it on?
The machine needs to warm up to provide stable oxygen. This takes around 2 minutes. Once it’s ready, the noise will reduce significantly.
Can I charge the device in the car?
Yes.
Your unit includes a 12-volt car charger, and the cable is long enough to reach the back seat.
Can the device be run while charging the battery?
Yes.
The device can operate while charging the battery.
How long does it take to charge the device?
- Approximately 4 hours when placed in the concentrator.
- Approximately 2.5 hours when using an external battery charger.
How much oxygen can the Kingon P2-E provide?
Pulse - 1,000 ml/min - equivalent (approx) to 5 litres per minute (LPM)
What is the oxygen purity, and does it vary at different settings?
The Kingon P2-E maintains an oxygen purity of approximately 90% ( -3% / +6% ) at all settings.
Does the Kingon P2-E provide free flow if no breath is detected?
If no breath is detected, the Kingon P2-E pulses oxygen every 3 seconds automatically. Once it detects breathing via the cannula, it resumes delivering oxygen according to the patient’s breathing pattern.
How much oxygen is provided at each setting?
- Flow Setting 1: 210 ml/min
- Flow Setting 2: 420 ml/min
- Flow Setting 3: 630 ml/min
- Flow Setting 4: 840 ml/min
- Flow Setting 5: 1,000 ml/min
What kind of maintenance does the device require?
The only maintenance required is the replacement of the oxygen sieve (mentioned in the next question).
We do, however, request that you visually inspect the mesh filter and air filters (cotton pads) that are located on the side of the device.
The mesh filter (hard plastic) can be removed and cleaned with mild cleaning detergent and water.
If the air filters (cotton pads) are dirty, replace them with new ones.
How often do I need to change the oxygen sieve?
It should be changed every 12-18 months, depending on usage. This is the same for every portable oxygen concentrator.
Even if the device isn’t used frequently, the sieve needs to be replaced periodically as it absorbs moisture and becomes ineffective.
This must be performed by a service agent Contact your Provider or Kingon Australia.
Is this device approved for air travel?
Yes.
It’s FAA-approved for passenger use on aircraft.
What is the warranty?
